Alister Smuts

Alister is one of those guys who’s figured out life.  Probably the most travelled of my friends, he ‘settled’ down over the past decade as a father of two, with a magnificent partner, Tavia, and a gorgeous home in the middle of the Mother City (aka Cape Town).  A South African through and through, he worked in London and Brussels in the early stages of his career (mainly in the IT sector) and upon returning to the country, became a financial advisor at Discovery. Smart, funny and kind, Alister is an ‘all-rounder’ of note. As a fellow alumnus of Bishops (Diocesan College), Alister was one of the people who really helped me integrate when I returned to Cape Town in 2006.  He’s remained a great friend and I really appreciate the bonds that have developed between his family and mine. Rugby is a shared passion of ours and watching a good Springboks match together - accompanied by a brandy and Coke or a beer or two - is one of life’s great pleasures.
