Mike Valiquette

An animation professional, Mike is a friend who knows much about being a dad. As a man who’s fathered two girls and been a father to a third, from a previous marriage, Mike has a profound sense of what it takes to raise a child, especially girls.  Empathetic, self-deprecating, and intense, Mike knows what to say in tackling just about any topic.  Having been out of touch for a number of years, during 2019 I was able to reconnect with Mike and his spectacular wife Alex (as well as their beautiful daughter who shares the same birth date as my son). Overlooking an overt dislike for what Toronto has become, Mike has kindly provided some insights into the city, which has, admittedly, changed quite considerably since I lived in its borders as a single, carefree man.  Having known Mike for decades, it’s been great to see the relatively quiet, babyface, well-coiffed boy I knew back at Ashbury College transform into the gruff, grumpy, and bearded face on the wonderful, curmudgeonly man that he is today.
