Kevin Bon
A longstanding friend, Kevin is a person blessed with many talents and privileges. Smart as a whip since I first met him as a wee lad in grade five at Ashbury College, he was always at the top of the class academically. Kevin went on to study at one of America’s top Colleges and achieve the CFA designation. Apart from brains, Kevin has always had music in him. From singing in an a cappella group at Harvard to strumming a guitar or playing piano in high school, he’s got a passion for the language and feeling that music elicits. Commenting on The Marcus King Band following a concert I recently attended (thanks to him), he said: “Music like this makes me feel the way I imagine believers feel when they go to pray in a cathedral. I almost cried twice, the music was so beautiful. To me it’s the ultimate expression of the human spirit.” Damn straight. It has been a pleasure to see the boy I knew grow into the man I’ve come to know - full of stories, experiences and wisdom that he freely shares with others. I particularly enjoy Kevin playing the enlightened DJ, introducing and discussing all kinds of music - and related anecdotes - while he ‘holds court’ at his cottage.
