Frederico ‘Fico’ Pastor

A legend among men, this diminutive Peruvian enjoys life like no other.  An unapologetic lover of tobacco, a connoisseur of many different types of alcohol, and a global gastronome, Fico has become a social giant in Cape Town. It would seem EVERYONE knows him, or at least knows of him. A friend of mine through Pieter Geldenhuys (who both met through a leadership development course in earlier years), Fico is one of the co-founding members of the Steak, Whisky & Cigar Club of Cape Town, a collection of men who enjoy each other’s company as much as they do seared meat, quality malts, and fine tobacco. Without fail, Fico brings a smile to my face with his devilish grin, bacchanalian prowess, and heavily accented utterances.  Part of my social support system in Cape Town, he was also a fellow participant in the Mankind Project, which aims to develop men as more self-aware and better contributors to society.  An individual who I admire for his skills as an architect almost as much as his capacity for consuming highly taxed consumables, Fico remains, for me, the friend who ‘lives large’ more than anyone I know.
